Not long after opening the hotel in the early 1950s, the bar, as simple as can be expected to be found on an island of 400 souls, began providing refreshment for the adventurous traveller, and soon enough became a focal point for the all-important morning espresso, meeting or bidding farewell to friends, sharing gossip with the locals, or just sitting at a table to absorb the island atmosphere.
In recent years Bar Faraglione established a Pizzeria, which, along with the Pasticceria, continues the tradition of a welcome port of call for all travellers that at their own leisure, and often delight, discover a granita made with locally grown blackberries or figs, taste an ice-cream as only Sicily can produce, become tempted by a mysterious dessert, and often during the evening, take spontaneous leave from a table overflowing with multi-coloured pizzas to dance to sounds of the visiting DJ or live band.
